how do I check in and check out?
Easy! All incoming guests will receive an email 24-hours prior to arrival with your room assignment. To check in just head straight to your room and the key will be in the door. Check out is at 11 AM, and there is a drop box by the front door for key deposit. If you need an extra key, please request it prior to your arrival by responding to the arrival email.
is breakfast included?
No. HH is not a B&B. Hawthorn House is an invisible service hotel meaning there is no front desk or food service. We are great at offering comfortable, simple accommodations in the center of Nantucket’s historic district for great prices. Book direct with us and save for a great breakfast off campus! There are several options for breakfast within a block of the property, such as the famous Black Eyed Susan's and Born and Bread Bakery. Coffee and Tea are provided in the common areas, as well as an ice maker and a common wine fridge.
what are the payment terms?
We require a credit card for booking and we debit the entire amount four days prior to your arrival. We offer free cancellations up to 30 days prior to your reservation with a $125 booking fee for cancellations between 30 and 7 days prior to your reservation. After paying the re-booking fee, you can always move your reservation to another date.
hurricanes, fog, and travel delays?
Traveling to Nantucket is always an adventure, and as such we strongly encourage all of our guests to purchase travel insurance. Checking the weather before you go, and being prepared is essential to a good experience when coming to Nantucket. For up to date weather reports and local travel schedules, download ACK Weather on the iPhone App or Google Play stores. We offer a full credit towards future accommodation when the Hyannis terminal ferries and air services not running on your day of arrival. Cancellations of ferries or airlines running from New York, Boston, or any other city do not qualify for a refund.
do you offer discounts for group bookings?
YES! Depending in time of year, we can offer significant discounts for large groups looking to book the entire property. HH is a convenient accommodation for weddings, corporate events, or media productions. Please contact reservations for more details: ( link )
where is Hawthorn House located?
how far is HH from the ferry dock/ airport?
HH is a short walk of less than 1/4 a mile from both ferry lines serving Nantucket. We are closest to the Steamship Dock. HH is a ten minute cab ride from the Airport, approx $20 in season.
are beach chairs and towels available?
YES, and umbrellas are also available. All equipment is first come first serve! Beach towels are located in the common areas on each floor in storage chests.
will I see any staff during my stay?
YES! Our room are cleaned by our staff everyday. Our manager and caretaker are just a phone call away. We do our best to anticipate our guests needs. We also place regularly needed items in the lobby’s storage closet. If you have any questions about Nantucket, just text our concierge at 508-228-1468.
what amenities are available?
There is complimentary coffee and tea as well as an ice maker and common refrigerator on the second floor living area.
what is provided in each room?
Hair dryer, iron, small ironing board, ice bucket, TV, and A/C. Everything you need, nothing you don’t.
are pets allowed?
It depends... We have one room (#9) that is separated from the main property and can accommodate pets on a first come first served basis.
is there parking?
No. We are in a downtown location and parking is not included.
are children welcome?
YES. While most of our rooms cater to adult couples, we do have pack-n-play cribs available when requested when making your reservation.
