Since 1984, innkeepers Diane and Mitchell Carl have been committed to making the Hawthorn House a place that people will want to return to again and again. Both have extensive knowledge of the island and are happy to share it with their guests. Each of the guestrooms is tastefully decorated with hand-hooked rugs, stained glass lamps, hand-made quilts and new and antique furnishings. The innkeepers’ love of art is evidenced by the works of many of Nantucket’s most talented artists and craftspeople on display throughout the house.
While many inns claim to be ideally placed in “downtown Nantucket,” only a handful truly are. Located in the historic core district, the Hawthorn House has arguably the best location from which to explore Nantucket’s many fine restaurants, shops and historic sites. The property is nestled between India, Centre, Broad and Federal Streets, so the best of the island is literally at your fingertips. Come see for yourself!
